Why have I never been to a conference in San Antonio?

After NOLA, our GPS was routing us to far southwest Texas to visit the beautiful, desolate Big Bend National Park. This nearly 15-hour drive was begging to be broken up by a few overnight stops throughout Texas.

After staying at the lush Stephen B. Austin State Park outside of Houston, we decided to spend the majority of the day in San Antonio. Our friend Sable had raved about the Riverwalk and the city was on our way so it felt necessary.

Mother of all that is holy, San Antonio is awesome. What I thought was just a simple riverwalk is actually 15 miles of beautiful winding walking paths, curated gardens, quaint cafes, and historic buildings smack dab in the middle of downtown San Antonio.

Excuse me???

We grabbed delicious tacos from Pete’s Tako Shop, an amazing Mexican Vanilla latte from Mila Coffee, and walked one block over to jump on the Riverwalk nestled one floor beneath the city blocks.

We watched ducklings splash in the water, oohed and awed over the vibrant Spring flowers, and thought to ourselves that all the conference attendees who wind up in San Antonio must love this option for exercise and tourism. If not, then please give me your place at your next work conference because I am, in fact, still unemployed.

TLDR: Visit San Antonio. It’s not just a paved walk along a river. It’s a place of magic.
